SERPanywhere lets you run a Google or Bing search as if you were somewhere else, so you can see which ads are actually showing in a given city or country.
Other tools have moved behind paywalls, SERPanywhere is free to use, no account needed. Checking whether ads are serving in London or Lisbon is an everyday job in paid search, and it should not need a subscription.
Fill in the form and it builds a search URL, it then opens the real results page on Google or Bing in a new tab. Nothing is scraped, proxied or cached. What you see is the live search engine, not a copy of it.
This part is Google only. Location is sent using Google’s own
uule and tci parameters, encoded from the same geotargets
list Google Ads uses, which covers 97,003 places. Device emulation uses
adtest-useragent, which returns Google’s genuine mobile page with
mobile ad formats rather than a resized desktop one.
Device emulation only works while Ad test mode is on. With ad test switched off, Google ignores the request and serves the desktop page, so the tool warns you rather than letting you read the wrong result. Bing has no equivalent of any of this, which is why it drops to country-level targeting and the Google-only options grey out when you switch engines.
Every parameter was tested against live search results rather than taken from documentation, because several widely cited references are wrong.
Google searches run with adtest=on by default. This flags the query
as a test, so your checks do not register as impressions and do not skew the
statistics for the advertisers. We recommend that you leave it on. Bing doesn’t
have an equivalent, which is why the tool warns you when you switch engines.
